The Compound is a book about a rich man who builds a compound where his family can ride out a nuclear disaster for years. The story is told by a boy who enters the compound as a child after losing his twin brother and Grandmother because they did not make it into the Compound in time. As time passes and the food begins to disappear he discovers that his dad is having babies to keep them alive if they run out of food. As his dad gets weirder he begins to dig deeper and finds out that his brother and Grandmother are alive and there was never a nuclear war. They finally escape the Compound.

That is what a group of outcasts is shooting for. There is great travel gear in the form of hover boards. There are many twists and turns along the way that make this a great series.
The Extras is really an extra book that continues the series in Japan with other kids.

The Hunger Games is a futuristic book that has a world kept very contained in small numbered sections and a select group is chosen with one from each sector to fight to the death each year for the entertainment of the public . The winner is a celebrity and becomes a mentor to the future participants but then there is a year when there are two winners that come from the same sector. A boy and a girl. They have to pretend to love each other to win, but they trick the game holders and anger them. In the second book, “Catching Fire” the winners are put back into the game the following year as punishment for tricking the leaders. In the back ground there is the rebellion rising and the girl is the silent leader of the people.

House of Night is a book about vampires in this day and age. It begins with Zoey getting “marked” and moving to the House of Night. She leaves her mother behind becuase she loves her new husband and his cult like religion more than Zoey. Zoey’s Grandmother is Cherokee and she guides Zoey during her new life. She meets and makes friends with a cowgirl from Oaklahoma. All is going pretty well until in the second book Zoey is seduced by a professor who is under the spell of Nafert who is the High Prestist but turns out to be evil. Zoey’s powers grow stronger and others begin to follow her. She has an affinity for all five elements and her friends each have an affinity for each of the elements. In Chosen Zoey becomes the true leader and Nefret brings back an immortal who helps her develop evil and Kill off the teachers. Kalona’s creatures fight with the vampires and the city is frozen in an ice storm that last threw three books. In the most recent book the whole group goes to Italy to the original Vampire Leaders to attempt to get rid of Nefret and Kalona forever Kalona kills Zoey’s human boyfriend and her soul shatters.

A teenage girl kills herself and leaves a box of tapes on a boys porch explaining how each person played a part in her suicide without knowing it. The boy goes through the book listening to the tapes and learning all the things he and others did. At the end of the final tape the girl tells him to pass it to the next person that affected her.

They go through being separated and getting back together.
